It was a toss up whether to title this story with 'Stop chewing on my sunglasses' or 'Parrot sent to wreak havoc on tourists', either way, we are talking about an evil bird. Today we visited Bird World in Kuranda, which cost us about $16 each for entry I think. At the entrance there were three birds, each of them had their own perch and none were caged. They stood so still that i had to look twice to see if they had been stuffed. I noticed one of them move a little and so i deduced that they were all alive and very tame. I asked the lady at the register if we were allowed to touch and photograph the birds; some places are a bit funny about touching and photographing things, so i thought i would ask first. The lady said that touching and photographing the birds was okay providing i didn't use a flash while photographing the owl because it hurts his eyes.
As we were about to enter we remembered to get bird food and even though birds don't eat much, when you pay $3.00 for only enough food to cover the palm of your hand you feel a bit ripped off. As it turned out, we gained more than enough attention with that hand full of food to be worth the $3.00 we paid. The birds were far more domestic than i had anticipated, and a couple of them were so bold that they would seek human attention by pulling on a persons clothing or biting their ears etc.

This little brute chewed my sunglasses and bit my ear. Little turd. Later he landed on my shoulder and i didn't suspect that he would try and chew on my sunnies a second time because he would have to stretch to grab them but within seconds he was nibbling on my sunnies again.
